Hirebrains is the consulting side of Vince Hodges. I am a software developer based in Vancouver, Canada with over 19 years of professional experience. For the past 3 years I have focused on Ruby and the Ruby on Rails web framework.

As a self described generalist I am able to perform most of the tasks and duties of software development whether it's as the senior/lead developer, the architect or as the team lead. I also bring a smattering of DBA and system administrator skills.

The following are all Ruby on Rails based web applications. Two are Facebook applications and the other two are available on the open web. The Facebook apps are high traffic volume and high availability with one (Are You Normal?) with almost 1.7 million users.

• Pennyminder A web application that helps individuals and small groups manage their finances. This is my startup and I am the chief, cook and bottle wash on this one.
• Kinzin A virtual private social network for families to share photos, stories and memories in a safe and private way. I was a senior developer on this project.
• Are You Normal? A fun little survey app for the Facebook platform. I was the architect and lead developer.
• These Are My Kids Allows parents to keep friends and family upto date wiht the latest happings and photos of their kids in a safe and private way. Available both on the open web and as a Facebook application. This has become the new kinzin.com. I was the architect and lead developer.
